Let’s get several things straight. — Straight from the mouth of a biology teacher: A fetus is alive. So is a zygote. So is a sperm, an egg, and even a bacterium. Life, itself, is not necessarily worth protecting. A bacterium on Mars would be a big deal because it would redefine what we know about the parameters of life. A fertilized egg is not a big deal. Statistically, most won’t even lead to a viable pregnancy, much less live birth.
